If it runs macOS & iOS apps (which macOS does now) I’m really looking forward to this device and will get it!

If it runs iPadOS I’m out.

I have a 12” iPad Pro M4 that is more powerful than my MacBook Pro M1 I use for work.

But I use it to watch YouTube, eBooks & browse Safari.

I’ve tried to do more with it. But iOS is just too locked down and limited.

So I use it for things an original iPad did perfectly.

A bigger more powerful iPad would give me….. a bigger screen to watch YouTube on?

For me the iPad isn’t the future of computing. It’s a convenient accessory.

Give me a real files app. (Higher density, show file extensions, don’t crash if there’s more than 100 files in a folder)

Terminal app.

Side load arbitrary apps from Safari.

Ability to run apps in the background.
(Web servers, downloads, file exports, video rendering, etc…)

Play multi video/audio sources at once.
(A tweet doesn’t stop Spotify playing)

Then I might actually be able to start using the iPad Pro’s power.

Until then it’s a very pretty toy.

AI, LLMs, StableDiffusion are the new BIG thing!

Until I can see the next “big thing” and find out it was developed on an iPad.

And then I can go to its GitHub repo & pull down the code and run it on my iPad and start experimenting with it.

Then the iPad isn’t a “real” computer.

It’s an accessory.

You need to go to a “real computer” to create the “next big thing”.
Then after a while maybe a small scaled down toy version might eventually make its way onto the AppStore.
(If Apple allows it)

To clarify. I don’t actually want macOS on iPad.

I want an unrestricted iPadOS.

Basically want I had on my jailbroken iPad 2 running iOS 4.
I could do A LOT more with that, than I can do on my iPad Pro (which is 100’s of times more powerful).

But at this point I have 0 trust in Apple to actually make a useful iPadOS.

So giving up and just giving us macOS, at least gets me a bad version of what I want.
