Spelow, Liverpool.
@MarkHoltom Oh those absolute bastard flavoured bastards. 😑
@MarkHoltom God, the building also serves as a foodbank, helping some of the most deprived people in the city. 🀬
@MarkHoltom From metaphor to despicable reality. Scum.
@MarkHoltom Seeing this, right-wing/fascist hate and violence, on the rise globally is VERY scary.
Fire at library building as serious violent disorder goes on in Liverpool

Spellow Hub was opened last year as the 'library of the future' to help people into work

@sinensetin @MarkHoltom Next time I hear someone say something along the lines of "being a neonazi is a valid political opinion", I'll punch them in the face with copy of this article. 😬 that's what it leads to. Attacks on innocent people.
@gilgwath
Punching Nazi's is valid in my opinion. Their intent is to cause violent havoc and harm to others.
@sinensetin
Thank you. So what are these people protesting about? Are they just fascist thugs trying to blame everything on a few minorities? Or just delinquent thugs?
@MarkHoltom
@MarkHoltom Intellectuals have always been victimized by the horde of morons, and imbeciles. They cling to religious nonsense. This is the GOP agenda
@MarkHoltom Yeah but dear readers and commenters…these riots have nothing to do with books of book banning. It is a consequence of a knife incident with a minor. Wrong assumptions….the age of social media outrage.
@TomDB @MarkHoltom I haven't looked at the news, so thanks...and I'm still really raw from the awful right-wing stuff in America, where book banners have money and a horrible agenda beyond libraries.

@mtechman @TomDB @MarkHoltom

this is from local media linked above:

"..a dad pleaded wmasked thugs not to burn a shop so his children were safe, but a nearby library was set alight as looters targeted businesses.

The chaos started when people began to assemble near County Road Mosque on the Walton street at around 8.30pm. Far-right social media channels had called for people to gather there .."

(it's disingenuous, IMO, to say nazi thug types arent linked to the burning of this library)

@rustoleumlove @TomDB @MarkHoltom I'll let @TomDB speak for himself, but what I understand from this is that it was an effort to destroy buildings by nazi-type thugs....and among other burned buildings, there was a library. I did NOT get the idea that anyone was saying Nazi-type thugs were not linked to the destruction of a library. And now I'm out.
@mtechman @rustoleumlove @MarkHoltom I'm all in line with the comment of @mtechman.
@rustoleumlove You completely misunderstand my reaction. A lot of the comments linked the burning of the library to the banning of books in America and that is simply not the case here. Be more careful making assumptions about what I certainly DID NOT WRITE. And yes I mean what I said that this IS the age of outrage, look at the news. Everybody is upset, some for just reasons, others for no linked reason at all.

@TomDB @rustoleumlove @MarkHoltom Okay I'm not totally out.

It's horrible that there are well- coordinated well-funded right-wing groups focusing on libraries in America. There larger goal (besides the dog whistle) is to defund libraries and public education.

It's horrible that there are racist nazi- type thugs in every country.

@mtechman @MarkHoltom Yeah, I don't understand the reasoning behind those groups either, or the funding to destabilize the opportunity of young children to read some really great literature. Doesn't make any sense.

@TomDB @mtechman

Its quite simple. We have had over 10 years of Tories screaming about 'invaders' and ''illegal' immigrants.
These have spawned fascist groups with the specific agenda of getting rid of immigrants to 'take back our country'
The Tories are no longer in power but the Nazi mouth breathers are still out there.
They took the opportunity of children's murder to say it was committed by a muslim immigrant (not true), and used this to organise, rise up and riot.

@MarkHoltom @mtechman It's a damn shame really, that people in power deceive so many others only to think it's the way to stay in power. Frankly the ones acting like that in the upper echelons are all idiots for what I care. Pity people are too easily falling for bs reasonings.
@TomDB @MarkHoltom or no reasoning...see also Facebook etc, and the profitable tech stuff that has acted as accelerant
@MarkHoltom @alwirtes The entire American Republican Party says hold my light beer.
@MarkHoltom Heya, can your alt text also describe the image, please?
@MarkHoltom It's not only Brexit to blame. That can happen anywhere if education is neglected. We need to raise the minimum education standard in the community for everybody's benefit rather than waste public resources subsidising the elite in private schools.
