Why read dystopian fiction when you can just pay attention?
@ErikUden because, we want to think all of this is fiction, not reality 😭
@ErikUden Some people like to skip ahead and don't mind the spoilers I guess.

@ErikUden

the fiction is generally more enjoyable, not only because you're not experiencing the concequences but also far better writing with less plot-twists

@_maleficentgirl @ErikUden +1 to this.

A writer of fiction has their plot in mind and develops the story accordingly. Therefore, fiction usually makes sense, not like the crappy reality we experience.

I am sure that the branch of reality we live in was never meant for production. I would like to know where we missed the turn, but unfortunately we'll never know... 🤷🏽‍♂️

@ErikUden reality actually killed the entire genres of dystopia and utopia (which to me feels almost always dystopic now) for me, which I used to occasionally read when younger.
@ErikUden
Like some of the people I've worked with over the years...you couldn't make this shit up, it would be panned as derivative, predictable and unrealistic. And yet here we are.
@ErikUden You mean watching the news or another form of entertainment?

@ErikUden

Well, I'd say, for a happy escape from reality.
