I will vote for and contribute to Harris no matter who is the VP, but I'm increasingly convinced that picking Shapiro would be an unforced error on her part.
@dangillmor Mark Kelly with a few reservations or Gov Walz, wholeheartedly. Shrug.
@dangillmor Folks put more weight on the VP pick than is deserved, IMO.
@dangillmor But I am jacked to see the enthusiasm and $$ for Kamala.
@dangillmor Yes. I'm not convinced Shapiro will help carry Pennsylvania. I think Kelly would help carry AZ.
@dangillmor
Please share why picking Shapiro for VP would be an error.
@dangillmor @EllenJS Harris want to pick up the large bloc of votes Biden discarded by supporting genocide. Shapiro is on the wrong side of the question, and would blunt Harris's edge and lose her some important votes.
@dangillmor I agree. It if guaranteed winning Pennsylvania, I’d be all for it, but it doesn’t.
@dangillmor I’m still hoping for Buttigieg or Warren or Sanders….
@detreville @dangillmor it won't be Warren (they won't pick a woman) or Sanders (too old)
@dangillmor I thought Pennsylvanians made it clear that if it's someone from PA, then it's got to be Gritty :)
@dangillmor Agree. Walz looks to be the best pick.
@dangillmor Particularly if she picks Ben...
@dangillmor agree 100%. Pete’s my top choice, but anyone else besides Shapiro is totally fine.
@dangillmor
I very much agree. The time & climate right now could mean several types of disaster with that pairing. I think having a Jewish husband is enough of an "introduction". Shapiro is an actively observant Conservative Jew, and somehow involved with IDF... with the rise of neonazis, white nationalists, Klu-klu-klan, other hate & attack groups here, Shapiro would become a target for their conspiracy mongering. I do hope Harris gets & takes prudent advice! Hope Doug agrees!
@dangillmor
Agreed!
If Kamala and Co. have their finger on the pulse, they’ll most likely come to the conclusion that Shapiro would shed rather than gain voters, particularly in light of his stance regarding Israel v Palestine.
@dangillmor @BruceMirken Agreed. I’m for Walz first, Beshear second.
@david @dangillmor Those are good picks, though the idea of watching Pete Buttigieg debate JD Vance is enticing.
@BruceMirken @dangillmor That would be hilarious. Pete would wipe the floor with “JD” but sadly this country isn't ready for a gay VP, yet.
@david @dangillmor That's certainly the standard political calculation, and it may be true. But oh, what a fun debate that would be.
