I'll back whoever she picks for VP but I do think the one thing the dems could do right now that could possibly end this run is pick Shapiro.

The temptation is extremely high, to be sure. Very popular in a must-win state. But I do believe that picking him will knock the wind out of the sails of a lot of these youth votes that are so excited for Harris.

Pretty much any other contender I think is a winner, but Shapiro concerns me.

Harris nears vice presidential announcement as her team tests out top contenders

Kamala Harris is in the thick of choosing a vice presidential running mate, with her campaign eying an announcement in the coming days that would be immediately followed by a joint tour of a series of battleground states beginning Tuesday.

CNN

So on-brand for Democrats to have an historic level of enthusiasm for a campaign and botch it at the last second.

I think it's still winnable with Shapiro and the ticket is still stronger than Biden could possibly be, but it's needlessly choosing the play the game on hard mode.

This weird prevailing wisdom that your VP needs to help you gain a state where you're behind just isn't supported by historical evidence, by the way.

Not actually sure it's helped a ticket win the presidency within my lifetime.

Biden was from Delaware, locked for Obama. Cheney was Wyoming, locked for Bush. Gore was from Tennessee, which didn't even go for Clinton. I can't remember if Indiana went for Bush/Quayle.

This all stems from Trump picking Pence to show up evangelicals, not a state.

If any of these VP choices would help pick up PA (which she's already starting to lead in, on her own), Walz would just as much as Shapiro, but Shapiro will result in across-the-board losses that could cost a lot of other narrow states.

Please don't pick Shapiro.

I fuckin rest my case.
@rodhilton
So, are you saying we should use Shapiro or not.
Most of the early people calling for Biden to step down, I trust less than Trump to decide what is best for the Democratic Party

@Ralph058 Well I was one of them and I was right.

And yes, DON'T choose Shapiro.

@rodhilton it boggles the mind that people still listen to that guy.
@rodhilton We go "live" to Kamala HQ picking Shapiro...

@rodhilton I was impressed by Walz on the White Dudes for Harris "call," though I don't know really anything else about him.

I just now read a Salon article making the same case against Shapiro. Maybe you've linked that somewhere in this thread already since I haven't read all of the posts.
