Today I discovered the 1952 "If-By-Whiskey speech"

It is glorious - a perfect precursor to so many online disputes about law and policy

The "This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise." makes it perfect.

This is amazing. I didn't know the if-By-whiskey speech either.

I am thinking already multiple topics that can be discussed this way. In the end, it boils down to: policy topics are often complex and people usually take a very clear one-sided position by reframing the issue in a way it suits to them.
