@jeffowski
It's only gender affirming healthcare if dad identifies as male.
#dontassumegender
@joosteto @jeffowski Not true. Plenty of nonbinary people take T as part of their gender-affirming healthcare.
@knbrindle @jeffowski
Ah, interesting, didn't know that.
@joosteto @knbrindle @jeffowski It's a pretty standard 3rd component of peri-menepausal HRT, along with estrogen and progesterone. (i.e., started ~ 6 mo in once the other levels have been figured out)

@jeffowski idiopathic hypogonadism here. I take T, get my levels checked to be sure I’m not superbiologic (overdosed), and go on.

I was overdosed for a while when switching endocrinologists. It’s no fun, as I produced estrogen.

@Blueteamsherpa @jeffowski "overdosed" sounds terrible, but "superbiologic" sounds like you're a super hero.
@stinerman @jeffowski I wasn’t. That’s the term they used. I repeated it because I thought it was accurate.
@jeffowski That is a good point. How many men taking testosterone and women taking estrogen are campaigning against gender affirming healthcare?
@jeffowski Kind of how a cis female getting breast implants is gender-affirming surgery.
@jeffowski sure, that's funny--it also builds bone structure(in cases of osteoporosis)--testosterone actually perfoms a function in one's physical operation.
@jeffowski Why? Is he trying to become a man?
