TRUMP: I love dictators. I want to be a dictator.
MEDIA: Are Trump's policies a cause for concern?
TRUMP: I will abolish democracy.
MEDIA: Is it unfair to portray Trump as authoritarian?
TRUMP: Read my lips: I am a fascist.
MEDIA: Hmm, only time will tell for sure.
@thewritertype What can he possibly mean?

@michaelgemar @thewritertype
"He is a changed man."
"He has learned his lesson."
"He will grow into the office."

Perhaps only MSNBC folks are consistent when they say TFG will only get worse.

@thewritertype MSM has depended upon cable, OTA (over the air), and dead trees (print media) for so long they do not recognize they are an endangered species.
Who will be Martha passenger pigeon of the old guard?
@thewritertype Frustrating. He has been saying atrocious things from day one, people just do not take him seriously. Second term he Will be surrounded by stooges who will assist him to make his policies real.
@thewritertype @HamonWry was looking for the source because this was clearly a quote right? It’s this obvious go someone in a position of power… right?
@thewritertype honestly. The hill article quoting the “no need to vote again” said this was part of a call by both sides to galvanize their voters. Just stunning in its blatant dishonesty.
The Newspaper Axis: Six Press Barons Who Enabled Hitler

Olmsted focuses on the role played by Western media moguls in whitewashing Adolf Hitler’s actions and calling for appeasement.

Foreign Affairs
@Npars01 I’ll check out that book. I’ve read a little bit about Western media enabling or sanitising the rise of Hitler and fascism (including the shameful Daily Mail, of course). And the role of the German press in the 1930s is an extraordinary story of cynicism and stupidity; the hubris of press barons and other industrialists who believed they could control events is amazing. But if history teaches us anything it’s that history doesn’t teach us anything.

Trump: If you oppose me, I will have you rounded up and killed.

Op Ed: Trump is known for this kind of wacky overblown rhetoric, but Democrats need to figure out why it resonates so strongly with his base.

Everyone: Because they like fascist shit?

Op Ed: What? No! It’s - I dunno - because they feel isolated from the American Dream or something.

Everyone: Really? Because it sounds a lot like basic fascist shit.

Op Ed: Shuttup. Don’t you millennials have an industry to destroy?

🤷 Could someone please look up how the US press was commenting on Hitler's announcements concerning his plans for the Jews?

You know, before and during the war?

Oh right, they “reported” it as irrelevant.

https://www.historynewsnetwork.org/article/how-the-nyt-missed-the-story-of-the-holocaust-whil

The US MSM actually reported on the development of the Holocaust in detail. Just basically never as a lead story. Oh, and the NYT were again the frontrunner to suppress the news. The NYT are really the good guys.

How the NYT Missed the Story of the Holocaust While It Was Happening

What did The New York Times report about the Holocaust and how did its coverage affect America’s response to the Nazi genocide?Throughout World War II, the American media published and broadcast timely, detailed, and accurate accounts of what was happening to the Jews in Europe. The New York Times alone printed nearly 1,200 articles about what we have now come to call the Holocaust, about one every other day. The articles in the Times and elsewh
