We need to IDK bribe? Intimidate? Somehow stop suburban people from all hiring lawn and “terminex” care because there are whole deserts without insects for miles. Not a grasshopper, bee or ant in sight. Nothing but crabgrass. There has to be a better way! There are no fireflies at night… no crickets singing.
And worst of all no ants. A yard without ants is a place of sadness.
It’s just this kind of default thing people do— not thinking about the implications.

I unfortunately have an awful neighbor who had terminex spray right up to my fence which means my property since it extends beyond the fence, so I rushed out to ask the sprayer if what he was using would harm my goats and turkeys and he was like "yes, it will kill them. We have to be very careful around birds" and I'm slow blinking like...then why are you spraying my fence. Evidently he was called to spray for ants. 🙄
This neighbor bought a wooded lot and has cleared it, stripped it of top soil down to the red clay, and the tiny bit of grass that grows, he mows constantly to like an inch high, sending up dust clouds every time. Why move here and attempt to dominate and transform this space and destroy the beauty that was here? We are the most diametrically opposed lots and it causes me endless stress.
