@vantablack

if trump wins, what happens to oppressed communities

@benroyce @vantablack y'all acting like your 300k donation makes a difference when said candidate trump has received like 45m from musk alone lol

you're ants playing under elephant's feet, blaming other ants for being inconsiderate after being told to save your own

@halva @vantablack

yes, mastodon is a drop in a bucket. but as part of the larger effort, donations to her are huge

meanwhile, muskturd just backed off on his $45 million pledge

@benroyce @vantablack it's a drop in the bucket of the largest party in any democratically run country in the world against the second largest party of this kind, both with giant corporate and personal sponsors

what you could've done is put that money to the actual marginalized communities present here, for whom even 20-30 bucks would be a huge help

but hey you donated to a walking corporate interests amalgamation whose budgets far exceed what you can possibly imagine, and now you're going around defending your feels good activism benefiting practically nobody 🙂

@benroyce @vantablack idk why im even going on about this, you're going to come back in 2 minutes with the same "but trump" bullshit lol

@halva @vantablack

of course i will

because those are the actual real world stakes

are you going to ignore trump possibly winning? and what is the point of doing that exactly? and what happens to all the communities you care about if trump wins? why is this not a completely valid point in your mind?

@benroyce @vantablack did you read literally anything i wrote before those 2 words

@halva @vantablack

i read the whole thing

indeed, mastodon's contributions are a drop in the bucket... of a much larger huge groundswell of support for her. while muskturd has backed off from his $45 million pledge

additionally, people can, and do, donate to both harris and mutual aid. it's not a competition. that is a fake, contrived conflict that does not exist

and so? what did i miss that you think is important?

Kim Scheinberg (@[email protected])

@[email protected] Just to clarify... Nothing about that thread influenced me. I've been answering #mutualaid requests here for ~2 years and had answered one just 6 hours before those threads started I do an order of magnitude more on GoFundMe because it takes my credit card. If I answer fewer here, it's bc I don't do Venmo or CashApp and so few accept Paypal But also, I don't view #MastodonForHarris as a waste of money. Contrary to what that thread suggests, there are plenty of folks who give to both

@benroyce @halva @vantablack you have not meaningfully impacted the "real world stakes" in fact you've made them worse by spending money on something entirely frivolous
@benroyce you've all fallen for the most obvious scam in history
@mae right. Trump or Harris winning, no difference. Of course. I'm sorry my friend I can't compete with your political genius
@benroyce are you just incapable of reading or something, or do you have to twist every argument to the absurd in order to not hear marginalised voices
@benroyce grow a spine and stop misrepresenting people
