I don't understand where the homeless folks are supposed to go when you clear the camps if you haven't built any new facilities for them? How does it address anything other than the optics of people seeing these encampments? https://apple.news/AYNa9oGo1Tsajty9TCB8QuQ
Gavin Newsom orders California officials to clear homeless encampments — The Sacramento Bee

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is ordering state officials to clear homeless encampments following a U.S. Supreme Court decision.

@collin It’s not only California. Just a month ago Supreme Court allowed Oregon cities to kick out homeless.

Not California, nor Oregon say *where* they have to go. They just say that homeless can not be seen anywhere. This effectively criminalizes homeless.

I guess the expectation is that homeless either stop being homeless or leave all cities and live somewhere between them but preferably out of sight.

I’m not in the USA. I don’t know how it is in the USA. But it boggles my mind how such a prosperous country can care so little about its people.

@pointlessone @collin for me it all stems from the original sin of the American genocide. The colonizer set the tone and the elites run with it. I cant think of a more cynical if not evil policy decision
