Stephen Smith@parismarx Unless something has changed I believe threads has only allow listed the largest mastodon instances for federation, so everyone on smaller instances are left out of viewing & interacting even if they didn't block threads.
Siroj42@Stephen304 @parismarx And I'd guess there's an above average overlap between people following Paris' work and people who are against federating with big tech platforms like Threads. So I think moving to Threads exclusively and trusting on its federation features, even when they're completed, would leave a sizeable amount of fedi followers behind.
Vesipeto Vetehinen@Stephen304 it isn't about size of the instance but about satisfying the criteria they have given (like showing a public timeline). I am on a rather small Sharkey instance and it federates with Threads just fine.
