what AI? i see no AI.

i see threatened workers, but i see nothing that could replace them.

i see elaborate sluggish puppet shows with precomputed fixed function pipelines, but I see no AI.

i see desperate cure-all snake oil salesmen exploiting the gullible, but I don't see any AI.

i see impressive magic tricks that fall apart instantly when prodded, but guess what - no AI.

i see lofty predictions for the future based on research that doesn't exist.

the only thing I don't see is AI.

if you're a CEO in the AI space and you are suffering from imposter syndrome right now, let me assure you that your feelings of inadequacy are indeed valid and quite justified.
@lritter *extremely farmer voice* why do we need AI when we got a bull at home
@aeva "where's the bull pa?" -- "the animal seems to be gon' right now but smell these beautiful stinky pies it left us whoo-eeh!"
@aeva talk about E I/O I/O
@lritter Alas, they can't hear you over the sound of all the money sloshing around in their accounts.
@ticho i'm not talking to them :)

@lritter

Exactly, what we're currently seeing is high on artificial but completely lacking in intelligence.

It's just fancy procedural generation that you have less control over.
It's occasionally impressive, but not in any way fit for the purposes it is being shoe horned into.

@lritter I see a thousand offshore slaves masquerading as AI (looks at amazon's walk in shop)
