This review makes no sense to me. Beyond the fact that the protagonists are both trans and obsessed with movies and tv, there’s not much I SAW THE TV GLOW shares with MYRA BRECKINRIDGE thematically, tonally, or any other way.
I Saw the TV Glow review – 90s telly-addict chiller set to be future classic

Jane Schoenbrun confirms her place as a superbly gifted film-maker with the weirdly wonderful story of two misfits finding solace in a creepy TV show

The Guardian
Granted, I’ve only seen GLOW once. But I’ve read MYRA around six times and I’ve written a bit on it, so I’m pretty sure I know it well enough to make this call.
Among other things, you can’t have a MYRA BRECKINRIDGE without, well, Myra: a self-creating goddess with a grand/megalomaniacal plan to save humanity by remaking gender. That’s not an accidental part of the book—it’s the whole dang point.
I guess I should be grateful to random movie reviewers for keeping Myra relevant while I work on my big Myra Breckinridge project.
