I keep thinking about Sonya Massey and Thomas Matthew Crooks.

A white cop saw an armed white assassin about to shoot Trump and ran away.

Another white cop saw an unarmed Black woman in need in her own home and shot her in the face 3 times.

Why are white cops more afraid of Black women than armed white men? If they can think split second to run away from an armed white man, why can't they think split second to NOT kill an unarmed Black woman? This horrific injustice is unsustainable.

@QasimRashid As horrid as the 2nd incident is, this is really and apples to oranges comparison - the cop at the rally was pulling himself up onto the roof - didn't have a gun in his hand, and had to let go to drop back back down. I'm certain if he had a gun in his hand he would have fired at the attempted assassin.

@QasimRashid I'm certain that there is racial bias in police killings, that was never in question. I'm also certain that your comparison, in the case of the would be assassin, was a poor one, that weakens the point

@QasimRashid That is 100% not what I'm doing, and you know it - there are plenty of good examples of racial bias in policing, and officers murdering black and brown people in situations where a white person would have been taken to the station, and fed a hamburger along the way. This just isn't one of them.

@QasimRashid Makes a lot more sense when you realize they don't shoot out of fear. Their fear response is generally to run or hide -- just look at Uvalde. They shoot out of anger or frustration. Fear is just the excuse they give the courts.

Here it’s whites (mostly), but pick anywhere, it’s the same: the truly cowardly band together under officialdom and subvert those (many) who are truly there to serve.

There is a toxic percentage we’ve not yet learned how to eradicate.

That’s a pretty interesting characterization of what happened when a police officer tried to climb onto a roof and had a rifle pointed at him.
With all the legitimate examples of misbehavior and malfeasance by police officers you had to stoop to embellishing this one?

@QasimRashid Your argument is valid, but your example of Crooks is not. Crooks pointed a rifle at the cop, who did the only sane thing and got out of the line of fire as quickly as he could.

This kind of recklessly inane rhetoric needs to stop. If you want to win cultural wars, don't carelessly resort to such easily skewered bullshit. That just makes it easier for opposition to dismantle your arguments and convince others they shouldn't listen to you. Be smarter than that.
