I'm overall mixed about this movie after going to the theaters to watch it. I felt the writing tried to do too much and had quite a few plot holes. There was an emphasis about the protagonist having survivor's guilt (almost in homage to the original movie). I personally felt that this portrayal (mostly due to the writing) was not well done in the slightest. She had the almost trope-worthy "I'm not gonna talk about this" thing, and even effectively ran away from it all. I felt that this could have gone to make a profound commentary about survivor's guilt, but because the tone was to be a thriller-esque movie, it feels like her character arc wasn't as good as it could have been. I think they shouldn't have put it in unless they portrayed it better. as it's a real phenomenon that happens with natural disasters.
