M. Gessen has lost the plot. Gessen describes the GOP convention as "an even-toned, inclusive performance," then argues that Biden's criticism of journalists is "a favorite tactic of demagogues everywhere." Gessen effectively bothsides this election. No thanks.

@minortriad Gessen is accusing Biden of being a Trumpian demagogue. Are you arguing otherwise?

And Gessen is absolutely bothsidesing this. Gessen's argument is that political discourse has degraded in a dangerous way, and now even Biden is Trump. Which is, to put it mildly, utter bullshit.

I agree with you. My fault for not making that clear.

I said 'wow' because I was surprised and saddened to hear about this recent both-sidesing from Gessen, who used to write straightforward and unequivocal criticism of Trump.
