Timely post.
I just called our state health dept this morning to inform them of the many dead/dying wild goldfinches I'm finding in my yard, which started about a month ago.
(No other birds species effected as of yet.)
I was wondering if they were collecting data on this, since bird flu transmission to humans has been reported in our state.
Who I talked to seemed unconcerned, and gave me the number to our local Dept of Natural Resources office, who connected me to a field agent where I left a short message, and am waiting for a call back, if that even happens.
Field agents, or Conservation Officers here, have no interest or concerns for wildlife except for the game ones ppl hunt.
There are dairy farms within five miles of our place, a short distance for birds.
