It has become impossible to connect USB-C cables to the port on my iPhone 15. The cable cannot be inserted all the way, so I don't get a usable connection. I've removed the case, tried a half-dozen USB-C cables by different makers, cleaned out the port with toothpicks, blown out the port with compressed air, and inspected it with a flashlight and a magnifying glass. I'm baffled.

Is this a Thing? At this point, do I need to make the trek to an Apple Store?

Thanks to folks’ suggestions, I took my non-charging iPhone 15 to Best Buy. It took 10 minutes for the guy there to use a tiny pair of tweezers to extract vast amounts of fabric fuzz that was caked into the bottom of the port. My own efforts apparently just literally scraped the surface.

Next time, I’ll be more aggressive with metal tools, despite my hesitation!

@waldoj living on a hobby farm I frequently get stuff like hay and alfalfa bits in my iPhone’s usb-c (and Lightning) ports so got a set of cleaning tools including tiny tweezers from Amazon. Typical ten thousand strangely named companies sell sets, less than $20
