More Zak McKracken shenanigans!

This one isn't particularly in Zak McKracken, but my favorite Zak McKracken reference in Maniac Mansion instead. Maniac Mansion being another fantastic game I love

LucasArts in-game references are the best ~☆

@sayomgwtf Wasn't Maniac Mansion developed before Zak MacKracken? Was it some "upcoming title" ad or something?🤔
@rob @sayomgwtf You are correct. The original Maniac Mansion had a Star Wars poster at this location. The screenshot is from a much later, reworked version of the game.
@bitnacht @sayomgwtf Alright, so which version is that screenshot from? On what platform?
@rob @bitnacht Enhanced version on desktop, that's the one that was released a year after Zak McKracken
@rob @sayomgwtf My guess would be it is actually from Day of the Tentacle. You can play the entire Maniac Mansion game inside of DOTT when you use a computer in the Mansion.
@bitnacht @sayomgwtf Thanks for pointing out. Have to replay #DOTT soon. 👍
@rob @sayomgwtf I would bet that it was a piece of gag scenery art that then became an actual gdd @grumpygamer amirite?

@rob The original C64 version was released in 1987, a year before Zak McKracken was released. The Enhanced Version (the version this screenshot is from), was released after Zak McKracken in 1989.

The original poster was a Star Wars one 😊

@sayomgwtf @rob The poster was removed from the NES version
@rob @sayomgwtf it was done for the PC maniac mansion. Which happened after C64 Zak.

Similar to how the FM Towns version of Zak McKracken changed a Rescue on Fractalus! poster to an Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade one.

I think (Disney's crippling fear of my money means I can't play it) the lower resolution versions of Zak didn't have a poster at all, so I'm surprised they picked Rescue on Fractalus! to begin with.

@et_andersson @grumpygamer @rob @sayomgwtf The Fractalus poster in Zak was one David Fox game advertising another David Fox game, so it seems pretty natural IMO.

@atmcashpoint @grumpygamer @rob @sayomgwtf

I guess, but was there any computer at the time that could run both Rescue on Fractalus! and the high-resolution version of Zak McKracken?
