NEW: NATO, the State Department, and the DoD are bringing dozens of TikTok, YouTube, and IG content creators to the NATO summit this week to meet with top officials from the most powerful institutions in D.C.

At the White House, the creators met w/ John Kirby, President Biden’s national security communications adviser. They attended a briefing at the Pentagon. At least two creators were granted interviews with Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

NATO and the State Department are hosting online content creators in Washington, D.C., this week in an attempt to boost the alliance’s image with young people.

@taylorlorenz lol why? Didn’t they just ban TikTok?

@taylorlorenz hmm I wonder why War- ahem, Defense and State departments are the "first Cabinet-level agency to establish a team dedicated to partnerships with digital content creators."

weird, I guess I won't think about why that might be, dum-dee-doo-dee-doo

@taylorlorenz well, maybe reality isn’t supposed to make sense. I will note that the information about international death pacts should not be coming from the same people selling “hawk tuah” tee shirts, bad cutlery, and pans with a removable handle… despite some functionality.
@taylorlorenz I read the article; and I watched some videos to familiarize myself with some of the creators invited. I don't pretend *any* expertise concerning these issues, organizations, creators...but this smells like propaganda. Kirby and Blinken interviews are the tell. I recommend the TikTok creator @iamlegallyhype to keep it 100% re:shenanigans🤔
@taylorlorenz Thank G-d we’re drowning out here.
