What are your thoughts on Medium.com? - programming.dev

I have a self hosted blog currently, and I’m considering posting it on medium.com [http://medium.com] I blog mostly for fun and I have not tried to monetize it. Are there any reasons to not use medium? What about alternatives like substack?
