It's great, that these stores exist, but it would even be better if the self-proclaimed privacy solution #1 would properly support using APKs and not redirect to hostile websites without indication or warning

@shaedrich it does, the APK is right there on the website with a signature and auto-updater built right in.
@cyrus There are download instructions for Linux from their repositories, but don't have that for Android on https://signal.org/download

@[email protected] Yeah sure, why would I use Google when I'm concerned about #privacy? Being in favor of privacy but then saying you swim with the tide, knowing that most people don't care about privacy or are too comfortable using privacy-respecting solutions.
