Can you imagine what would have happened if within 24 hrs of Trump being a convicted criminal, every NYT opinion writer and the Editorial Board called on him to step down. And then the media found 1 or 2 elected Republicans to say he should step down and kept highlighting them, and found some big money donors who were Haley supporters and would publicly say they could no longer support Donald Trump as the first former president to be a convicted criminal in history?
The U.S. media is a joke.

BUT...would this actually have made a difference? Isn't that what the National Review tried in 2016? Isn't that what happened with the Access Hollywood tape? Isn't Trump's superpower that he brushes criticisms and reality aside and his fanatical base sticks with him?

The only reason anyone makes these calls with Biden is that he has enough decency and self-awareness that he might actually listen.
It has nothing to do with shame and everything to do with building a narrative that the candidate the for-profit media decides to gang up on can't win.

The cause behind the for-profit media's feeding frenzy on Biden's age while mostly ignoring Trump's fire hose of lies and SCOTUS' intertwined judicial coup is immaterial to the fact and hugely negative ramifications of what they are doing.
Politics is power and money brokering in a media theater.
It is not the soul of America that I fought for.
As a two tour Vietnam Veteran, I prefer to think of what you have noted as a blip on the radar screen of time.
One President does not a country make. We have functioned often under similar circumstances to today for 248 years.
It is the people who have made the country what it is that will decide - not the money grubbing politicians.
