I read a couple of Substack things via RSS. Some of them have paying-member-only articles. If I subscribe, can I get the paid stuff by RSS? That is: do I get some sort of personalised RSS feed with everything in it that I can drop into NetNewsWire?

@sil hmm, I seem to get ALL posts by RSS and get annoyed when something in the RSS feed is pay only (which I guess is the point, I should subscribe)

However, there is a buttondown subscription where i only get the premium posts by email

@sil but I don't know what happens in substack for pay only posts - do you get the full post in the feed, or have to click through?

I realise now this is your question, and I've wasted your time ;)

@paulfreeman yeah, this is exactly why I’m debating subscribing to the Birmingham Dispatch, which means it’s working (and they deserve it), but I want to continue reading by RSS. This isn’t something that they’ll be able to fix — it’s a substack platform thing — but I don’t know whether substack have actually done it, and I don’t wanna pay to find out no :)
@sil @paulfreeman I have a personal feed for the podcast I support on substack, but the same page for a newsletter I support doesn't have an RSS link. I do actually wish they had that as forwarding the email to my RSS reader is annoying.
@sil I subscribe, and so I had a look and the RSS feed cuts off at the 'subscribe to read more' with a "Read more" link that goes to the website (where you can then read it all if you're logged in). I don't think I've seen an entirely 'members only' post from them, they just cut off early.
@dracos ah. So I’ll need to read on the website; there’s not a full content feed. Useful to know, thank you!
