@TroveAirRaidBot @abbalogh Check out this article! They could be quoting Dad. This is a story Dad told me many times. I believe Dad's Fighter Group was the only one stationed in Sydney at the time. Dad met Mom the week before this was published.

I do remember Dad telling this story, and it is also in the P-38 squadron book he had. Where is that book?

@abbalogh In April 1942 Dad was with the 35th Fighter Group. He was working on P-39's and P-40's. A year later he joined the 475th Fighter Group and P-38's which I have his yearbook. The group assembled at RAAF Amberley in Brisbane.
