Turkey's military occupation of northern Iraq/southern Kurdistan now has set up a checkpoint on the road to check identities of the people between two locations (Berwarî and Amedi) reports StêrkTV.
Probably checking for the resistance or people they can torture for such information.
The "Kurdistan Region of Iraq" government held by Erdoğan's quisling-party in the area, KDP, ignores and has previously aided the invasion,
while the federal government is held hostage by the KDP holding the ability to cause it to fall, as well as having grabbed key positions like Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.
"The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) have set up checkpoints 35km within the territory of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), stopping and interrogating local traffic while distributing leaflets thanking them for their cooperation. [...]
[...] in addition to deploying hundreds of tanks and armoured vehicles around the Matina region in Duhok province, a high-ranking Turkish delegation is likely to visit Baghdad. In the past 10 days, Turkey has deployed 300 tanks and armoured vehicles to Iraqi Kurdistan."

"While images from the ground confirm the media reports that Turkish troops have set up checkpoints in northern Iraq, reports are coming through of further activity and violations by the occupying army in the region.
Citing local sources, Rojnews agency reported on Saturday that Turkish soldiers raided the village of Dergelê in Kanî Masî town of Duhok last night. The occupiers threatened the villagers and told them to evacuate the village within 24 hours."

"Over the last week Turkey has moved thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks and military vehicles into Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In a statement, the US State Department [...] urged Turkey to protect civilians and respect Iraqi sovereignty."

Mkaay, cool, maybe stop arming https://todon.eu/@b9AcE/111913995609586917 the the rebranded al-Qaeda allied and ISIL collaborating aggressor.
Also, WTF do you mean "ongoing threat posed by the PKK"?!?
How is anyone a "threat" by being attacked with chemical warfare while remaining in the areas of officially Iraq where they had signed agreement with Turkey and Iraq to relocate to as part of the ceasefire agreement that Erdoğan unilaterally broke by entirely unprovoked invading and occupying S Kurdistan/N Iraq committing many war crimes well documented on average several times daily while the PKK's forces remain adamant in following the Geneva Conventions since 1995. Are you on meth?
Turkey's war of aggression invasion army in S Kurdistan/N Iraq burns villages and prevented the locals from extinguishing the fires.

This follows that army's previous practice of setting e.g. crop fields on fire with bombardment from their >100 military occupation forts in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, to then shoot at any of the locals coming to rescue their own livelihood, or similar using flares (long- and intense-burning fires) dropped from low-flying helicopters, or simply having its soldiers or auxiliary forces go do the crop- and general nature-arson directly by hand, which are methods they use also within Erdoğan's civil war against the Kurdish majority areas under the regime.
All of that being explicitly defined specific war crimes.
@ophiocephalic Oh no, didn't think of it like that at all. I just wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.
The ICRC is the organization responsible for maintaining, promoting, etc the Geneva Conventions and many similar instruments, including holding many expert panels discussing their interpretations into reality and publishing a very good edition with essential commentaries.
So, that IHL database can probably be considered as authoritative as it gets, apart from an ICJ ruling or similar. Highly recommended reference page.
