Last day of #Newshub is a whirlwind.
Every employee nationwide is here, it's a vortex of activity and emotion.
I'm a bit of an emotional mess.

It's been an honour and a pleasure to tell NZ stories every day. It's given purpose and meaning to my work.

I'll be forever grateful.
I will miss this, my favourite job so far.
🙏😭

Tvnz has sent cake, there's flowers all over the place.
Rnz has sent a case of champagne, which we aren't allowed because it's meant to be a dry newsroom. Rumours of revolt are circulating. 🍾

What are they going to do? Fire us? Lol.

It's like a funeral had a baby with a party and a last minute breaking story over here.

There's journalists crying, hugging, chatting, writing scripts, and producing stories while they eat cake one last time.

It is a lot, I tell you.

I did return my work laptop, as expected.

But they let me keep the extra monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. 😃

They will go great with my (newly acquired) personal laptop. Thanks #newshub

They are destroying all the hard drives, but reportedly will repurpose the laptops later.

Too much confidential journalistic information there, I guess.

Part of the reason why it's all such a whirlwind is because a good chunk of the team is also preparing the first Stuff ThreeNews bulletin for tomorrow, which will come from the same studio, edit suites and basically same infrastructure.

Some of us are on the last #Newshub bulletin, some are on the first stuff bulletin, some are on both, some are on neither, just socialising and making time for the party later on.

A lot, as I said.

Big group photo taken now of the whole crew.
I will be the one wearing a mask.
Someone has to.

There's now pizza and speeches in the newsroom.

Also stories to cut and a bulletin to produce.
Not the best timing but when is it ever?

Third cake.
Unsure of its origin.

And we're on air one last time.

#Newshub

That's it.
Nga mihi nui #newshub
