"IED Explosion Damages Patrol Vehicle

Around 2AM today (7/4/24) a BPD patrol officer was responding to a disturbance in north Beaverton. While driving along 158th Ave. the officer observed a flash and heard an explosion, resulting in the loss of the passenger window of his patrol vehicle and damage to the door. The officer suffered minor injuries.

An investigation showed an Improvised Explosive Device caused the damage. Officers were not able to locate the suspect who made or deployed the device."

That second to the last sentence...

They need to clarify whether this device seems like it was some dummy who rigged a bunch of fireworks to go off and the officer was passing by at the wrong place at the wrong time as they set them off or if someone built something to be malicious, ie "reckless, ignorant person vs terrorist" IED.
