Solid explainer by @metacurity on how the Supreme Court's recent ruling reversing the Chevron decision could weaken or entirely upend all of the U.S. cyber regulations — like the SEC's mandatory data breach reporting rule, security requirements for energy pipelines, and cybersecurity minimums at nuclear power plants — you know, all the things that keep us much, much safer than, say, not.

US Supreme Court ruling will likely cause cyber regulation chaos

The ruling could weaken almost all US federal cybersecurity regulations, including SEC incident reporting, FCC data breach reporting, and CISA cyber incident reporting rules.

@zackwhittaker @metacurity The death of expertise especially in regulation, turns back most of the last 125 years of technical regulatory process. A judge is an expert in law, not an expert in chemistry, ecology, cybersecurity, etc. Sad that the idiocracy has reached up through congress and the executive to our highest court. Stop the nation I wanna get off!
