Caspar C. Mierau@jascha Das ist so schlimm bei der ganzen Retro-Szene im Nintendo-Bereich. Da werden Dateien offiziell über Discord gehostet und jeder Scheiß darüber abgewickelt. Das nervt so hart.

@jascha Ich frage mich, ob das daher kommt, dass die Community erst spielt über Discord chattet, sich dann technologisch "radikalisiert" und selber Technik macht und man dann mit einem Tunnelblick den Stack nimmt, den man schon kennt und der irgendwie alles (schlecht) kann: Discord.
@leitmedium Für Datei Hosting musst du ja richtig Kohle zahlen - das kann es also nicht sein. Ich glaub eher es geht um den Flex „wir haben 100000 Menschen im Discord“

@leitmedium @jascha another aspect is that you get a feeling for the kinds of people that engage with your thing instead of not knowing who reads a website. In a world that’s mostly faceless megacorps, I can understand this development. I’m very much not a fan of it either, but it feels like the model has benefits to those who use it. Ideally we can morph this into a more open and more accessible alternative before long.
