Installing fascists, building police states, arming themselves to the teeth. The message is super clear, it doesn't take a genius to realize they're going to run us right off the ecological cliff for capital and shoot anyone who tries to fight back - their actions point to NO OTHER POSSIBLE CONCLUSION.
Recognizing this is not crazy; pretending it's not happening while rich people and the states they own line you up for a shallow grave? That's crazy.
Don't talk to me about democracy when rich people own everything and are sizing me and mine up for extermination. Don't talk to me about voting until you can present a choice that isn't "kill billions to keep doing capitalism" because the hour is fucking late, and I have no more patience for pretend on a boiling planet, surrounded by nazis who mean us all harm, and staring down a mass extinction event.
You want to know why I'm so fucking angry? Well there's your answer. I HATE pretend.
Maybe it wasn't felt in the U.S. as much, but ever since the eastern block collapsed they stopped making concessions. It wasn't paradise prior to that, but it dramatically changed the attitude.
Previously somewhat working systems giving you at least housing and food got slashed or were made almost inaccessible, civil rights taken away, police was made almost untouchable no matter what and climate change merely seemed to accelerate that further, but it started long ago.
We would probably need a rather large movement opposing that and politicised unions. What I see is more like the opposite. Supposedly "leftist" parties adopting populist right wing policies, small groups grappling with each other, struggling against the rise of fascists and unions with functionary elites that increasingly seem to be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
Upshot:
We're in a far bigger mess than most would anticipate, I'm afraid. /o\
Guess what? It probably started with speeches given by the early revolutionary leaders, where hierarchies and elites were backed in right from the start. It failed spectacularly and continues to date, with self-proclaimed, "leftist" tankies, cheering to ruZZian imperialist aggression.
The capitalists on the other hand not only knew how to exploit this weakness. They continue to capitalize big on it.
