@ben My last-but-one computer had an Intel chip and crashed a lot. So I got an AMD in the newer one and it crashes less. I do not believe this is because of "intel vs. AMD" but in switching CPUs you also switch the chipset so if you've had a bad time with one, maybe the other will be better for you.

I do not think you can draw any kind of systemic conclusion about which is "better".

@peterb @ben Well, I'm sure someone could identify a specific CPU feature available in one that is not in the other or not implemented as well as it is in the other.

There probably is not a significant measurable difference between the two for a 'typical consumer'
