Donald J. Trump has one skill as an orator.

People say that he "gish gallops", layering on assertions so thick and fast that it's hard to keep track, and while that's true, he has better pacing than a Ben Shapiro, who's just bloody annoying. That's not his whole schtick.

Trump's monologues may be word salad, but they're packed with catch-phrases, and the ones that get a rise at live events will be repeated. Like a jingle.

When Trump speaks, all I hear is hypnotic repetition.

@fgbjr all I hear along with what you said are lies on top of lies and more lies.
@fgbjr Gish gallops confuses the audience also, including (and especially) undecideds. The purpose of election debates is not to “win the debate” but to persuade undecideds to vote for you. Trump’s catch phrases are incredibly boring - saying a dozen times Biden is the worst President ever will just get undecideds to think “there he goes again”. And Trump lacks the ability to go in to detail in what way Biden’s the worst President ever because he doesn’t know what it is.
@fgbjr That hypnotic repetition of those key catchphrases is well documented with other cult movements. What we hear as word salad or “mumbo jumbo” is a type of group hypnosis. The repetitions become sub-conscious hypnotic suggestions. That trump-maga cult is rabidly loyal. They’re programmed.
@fgbjr He's very good at inserting code words that trigger his supporters. They don't necessarily follow the prose but they get the meaning.
@dethtron5000 He also invents them, while gradually pushing the envelope of the acceptable.
