@jyarbrough @lowqualityfacts Aren't image processing algorithms for standard typed text good enough these days that reading text from images must be a fairly cheap operation?
You'd think Mastodon et al. could include an automated feature for generating alt text for images that are basically just text. Like they do for translations, which I'd expect to be more computationally expensive.
@nottrobin The app I use has the option built in. I mostly called it out because @lowqualityfacts is usually good about it but I've noticed a few posts recently where it got missed.
@jyarbrough @lowqualityfacts ah I see. Also, @lowqualityfacts's posts are often handwritten aren't they? They might be harder to automatically parse?
