Hey #music side of Mastodon, I am looking for some new band recommendations specifically #Hairmetal or #hardrock think stuff you would play while driving your van with a wizard riding a unicorn spray painted on the side.

I’d love more modern stuff but lesser known classics are welcome as well.

@Wandering_Goliath

Not sure where you are - I'm in #Canada. There are some good 70s/80s #metal/#rock bands that aren't as well known outside of Canada. If you know these bands, apologies for the outside scoop; otherwise, just a few suggestions as jumping-off points.

Kick Axe - albums "Vices" and "Welcome to the Club"
Helix - probably better known, particularly "Walkin' the Razor's Edge"
Headpins - guitar rock, not metal
Queen City Kids - proto-hair-metal
Aldo Nova
Triumph - better known

@cazabon @Wandering_Goliath and if progressive is your thing Saga rarely gets mentioned behind Rush. Not that Rush isnt awesome, but saga is almost as good.. i think. They only have like four hundred albums.
@cazabon thanks for the suggestions! Will have to check them out! I’m in the USA but I do know Canada has had some great bands that never made it across the border.

@Wandering_Goliath

You're welcome; always happy to share. Kick Axe is one of my favourite rock acts to listen to.

Some more popped into my head overnight.

#Prism - rock/hair metal
#Streetheart - rock
Toronto - rock
#Trooper - rock - more famous outside Canada than others

And of course there's some more widely known guitar-rock stuff like April Wine, B.T.O., Doucette, Kim Mitchell, and glam acts like Honeymoon Suite.
