Average gas prices are now below $3.50, but they’re still too high.

My Administration is doing everything in our power to bring them down.

@potus As long as people drive trucks for light errands & commuting, gas is too cheap.

As long as lines of idling cars form outside coffee shop & fast food drive-throughs, gas is too cheap.

As long as people speed, gas is too cheap.

As long as people say “I like my gas car; I’ll never buy an EV or use transit,” gas is too cheap.

As long as atmospheric carbon dioxide is rising, gas is too cheap. Way too cheap.

Actually, the cheaper we can get a barrel of oil down to the more we can #KeepItInTheGround since the producers won't be able to afford to pump it out.
@potus @GreenFire Ok, let’s make it expensive as hell to burn, to remove the financial imperative to use it. Which will make it cheap and thus remove the financial imperative to extract it. Two sides of a coin.
@MarkBrigham @potus
I'm sure hoping that Americans choose to elect enough #ClimateHawks into the 119th Congress that we'll be able to get some aggressive #ClimateAction legislation passed and signed into law in 2025.

@GreenFire @potus

Me too. Unfortunately, environmentally oriented citizens tend to vote less than other demographics. But here’s a way we can help!

A group called Environmental Voter Project has identified enviros in key states, and follows up with volunteer-driven campaigns, encouraging the enviros to vote!

Environmental Voter Project

We identify inactive environmentalists and transform them into consistent voters to build the power of the environmental movement.

Mark Stinnett has been doing a great job. We made a big impact that first year and it's only getting bigger!

@potus @GreenFire Cool, you’re involved?

Nathaniel Stinnett presented at #ccl2024

I think this slide is from his prez.

@MarkBrigham @potus
Yeah Nathaniel Stinnett. I could probably dig up a picture from the first time he presented to us at a Citizens Climate Lobby Educational Conference, but the first time I recall talking to him was at our local monthly meeting.

@GreenFire Cool. I just joined CCL this spring. This was my first conference. It felt empowering to be doing something to move the needle ever so slightly in the right direction toward clean energy & climate action.

Steady streams of climate crises numb the senses. Gotta rise above the doom and do something, both personal things and push for system changes. That’s where I am, anyway. Ciao!

@MarkBrigham
Not many Americans realize that CCL is the largest volunteer network focused on our #ClimateCrisis it seems to me. They're great.

I was involved with Citizens Climate Lobby during the earlier years and we made some good progress, but then once the GOP nominated Trump I no longer could pretend that the Republican Party had any intention of doing anything that would harm their most important benefactors, the fossil fuel industry.
