TicketMaster have sent out an email about their recent breach.

In it, they warn users to be wary of emails with suspicious links.

All the links in the TicketMaster email go via… BitLy!

@Edent the one I got had a different Bit.ly link and was only about US transactions, offering me a free TransUnion account. It is borderline spam itself!

@Edent

Victim blame, and put all the information the victims need behind the thing you just blamed them for doing [and they didn't].

Its perfect corporate fuckery.

@Edent
So they're as stupid as they are evil. Noted.
@LambdaCalculus
@Edent kind of sums up why they where breached! Lazy!
@Edent
My god, I have been fulminating against shortened links for over 15 years. And again, this gets to me. This practice is so shady. Don't they realise how bad it is or don't they care for the sake of neatly fitting links in pretty layouts?

@Edent My favorite security email was from a bank to let customers know that they'd never send us links in an email.

At the bottom, it had marketing links.
