A quarter century of Daily Show archives vanish from the web two days after Paramount+ also wiped the MTV and CMT sites. https://latenighter.com/news/paramount-axes-comedy-central-website-show-clips-library/
Paramount Axes Comedy Central Site, 25+ Years of Daily Show Clips Gone

One of the richest repositories of late-night videos—including 25 years of clips from 'The Daily Show' and the entire run of 'The Colbert Report'—is no longer.

@w7voa I wish I could be surprised. That's all anti-fascist stuff being clobbered.

@phaedral @w7voa came here for, with this precise thought.

The waters are becoming treacherous. You dont gotta burn the books, you just remove the data.

@w7voa Absolutely outrageous. MTV and now this.

The rich would burn down the Library at Alexandria if it made them 10 bucks.

@wandrecanada @w7voa “Won’t someone PLEASE think of the stockholders!” (spoken in exasperated Mrs. Lovejoy from The Simpsons voice )

@w7voa

SO, corporations ERASING MEDIA (history); is the US preparing for a fascist regime (major war) in advance, do they know something the rest don't? this seems very bad indeed, and we all feel it is just a start...

@oscarfalcon @w7voa Possibly maybe? I wouldn't bug out entirely until other corps start following, keep watch but don't freak out. Sometimes isolated actions can seem indicative of another thing but are just that, isolated.
@w7voa I thought they had their own website and started uploading it there. But then this was circa 2005.
@w7voa You would think they would want to make $ off of all of that (which maybe they are planning on in some way).
@w7voa Shareholders should be out for blood. FFS, people are still making money off MASH, Maude, & other old shows that were political.

@w7voa I swear I'm gonna go get that "Piracy is curation" tattoo.

#PiracyIsCuration

@w7voa

I hope someone at https://old.reddit.com/r/datahoarder had the wherewithal to archive The Daily Show.

@atatassault @w7voa

I bought an episode in 2010 through Apple and watch it from time to time.

After today’s news I tried to launch the episode. It didn’t launch and I got a message “There’s a problem loading this content.”

@w7voa copyright sure leads to people not being able to access culture

@w7voa

I have this archive on my media server if anyone needs a copy. I'm gonna start archiving more stuff because of actions like this.

@w7voa Wonder what's going on over at Paramount Global to engage in this cultural erasure.
@w7voa @andypiper There should be legislation that the content should got o the LOC or Archive.org. WTF is wrong with Paramount!!!!
@w7voa Pretty sure they're all still on USENET.
