New on Threads: We’re expanding sharing with the fediverse 🧵👇

In March, we announced a beta experience in a few locations. Now, we’re expanding that beta to Threads users in 100+ countries and adding additional fediverse functionality.
Let’s recap: The fediverse — short for federated universe — is a global, open, decentralized network of social media servers all around the world that can communicate with each other using a standard protocol.

We’re working toward integrating Threads with the fediverse and adding new features over time.
What’s new?

📝 Starting this week, Threads users aged 18 and older with public profiles in more parts of the world can begin sharing to the fediverse.

📝 ’Til now, Threads users who turned on fediverse sharing could see like counts on their posts from people in the fediverse. Now, you’ll also be able to see and like top-level replies to your federated posts on Threads.
If you live in an eligible country, you can turn on fediverse sharing from your Account Settings. If you change your mind, you can turn it off at any time. (Threads will request that other servers delete your content, but deletion isn’t guaranteed.)

And remember: You don’t have to share to the fediverse just because you’re on Threads.
