I have started watching JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

I just started the fifth episode of the Stardust Crusaders arc (I swore I’d get through the intros of the five main characters at least) and…I don’t know how to feel?

@tabbiewolf Did you skip straight to Stardust Crusaders?
@jshawthorne should I have started earlier?

@tabbiewolf No, it's fine. Honestly, Phantom Blood was truly hard to get through, and though I liked Battle Tendency (and seeing Joseph Joestar as a kid instead of an old man is really different), the show fundamentally changed between BT and SC.

I will say that Stardust Crusaders takes a long time to ramp up and feel like you're really understanding it, well past just the character introductions.

@jshawthorne I’ve got the basics of what a Stand is, at least, and who the main bad guy is, but I saw it’s like. 43 episodes long (on Hulu, at least, I think the arcs/seasons are divided weirdly) and I suspect I do not have the patience to watch all of it
@tabbiewolf It's forty eight episodes total, cuz it's two twenty-four episode seasons. The first part is what you're in now, and the second part (usually called The Egypt Arc or Battle in Egypt) is a lot more serial instead of episodic.
@tabbiewolf FWIW, I actually really liked it, but I also, I think, appreciate long story arcs more than you do.
@jshawthorne Does it end well? I think I remember you saying it does. I will sit through a LOT for a good ending…
@tabbiewolf I would say it ends satisfyingly, and with surprising emotion (especially for a show that is, in a lot of ways, a parody of itself)
