[WR] FMC single 16 by Levi Gibson and Aedan Bryant (yes, it's a tie)

Levi's reconstruction: https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=zmDdW_qCEwc

Aedan's solution: https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=epnEalnBCm0

It's also a tie with Sebastiano Tronto's 16 moves, back in 2019.

FMC World Record Single: 16

Aedan's video: https://youtu.be/epnEalnBCm0?si=Y0_OrfAiThBd8xBS I'm so shocked that I broke this record. I never thought I would ever have a world record, and then it just happened. I was doing the solve like normal, and then the cube was solved all of a sudden, and then I wrote it down and it was 16 moves. Thanks to Margot and Aedan for being such awesome companions with me during this competition! It was such a blast hosting this competition in my hometown, and getting a world record was so unexpected. #freekalindu

I’m not clear on how world records in FMC work. If the current WR is below God’s number, are future WRs contigent on getting luckier and luckier scrambles?
Yes. I think that there will be a lot more of “16s” WR before there are a 15. 16 moves is less than 3% of solutions, 15 is about 0.2%.

Interesting. If humans can’t get “better” at FMC (just lucky) is the event kind of “over”, in some respects?

Seems like reducing the allotted time (speed FMC?) or adding more puzzles (multi FMC?) could add some excitement back into the event.
