Turns out that purposefully NOT widening the base after opening, pushing from the outside and holding steady on the inside works MUCH better 😂
That, and recentering after opening, compressing the rim after each pull, it feels controllable. And my rims are more even with less effort.
Oh, and I can reliably cone up and down now it seems, pressure with the left hand, right hand just hanging out and guiding the clay
