Disappointed to find out a recommended study guide for a certification I’m working on has content about accessibility and disabilities that is so far out of date that it actually feels harmful.
My concern is that others may continue to internalize outdated thinking about cognitive disabilities instead of creating an opportunity to be up-to-date in their knowledge and research.
But hey… this is where critical thinking in research comes in! When you’re researching and taking notes, don’t take source content as gospel truth — or don’t just copy and paste it into your notes.
Compare it against other sources and research.
Consider where your source material has come from, or if there is an agenda or leaning with the content.
Keep good citations in your notes so you can go back and refer when comparing and contrasting.
