There are two things which pretend to be AI:
- the now-ubiquitous stochastic parrot, which is pretending to be much more sophisticated than it is
- advanced statistical models which sample complicated design spaces and find multiple local optimum combinations. These are pretending to be the same thing as the stochastic parrot because it was easiest to convince the investors that the computer is all-knowing than to explain the model
