Reading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, and 6,000 (digital) pages in, 30% into book 3, the prologue to book 1 is finally given context.

I really love when the groundwork is laid early, and you get a good payoff way down the line. When I finally got the context in book 3, the events from the prologue were just whispers of a faded dream to me, much as those same events were to the characters 4 millennia later.

@awilbert This is one of my favorite series. I couldn’t agree more with the payoffs and the attention to detail throughout the books.

@Danweston You can tell that theres a plan. From the beginning. That's what I like the most. So many series are just strung together, with story lines that you can totally feel were made up in sequence, with no real thought given to the through lines of the series early on.

@awilbert That’s one of the biggest things missing in most of the popular series these days I’m looking at you Disney (e.g. Marvel and Star Wars). That and original stories.
