If it is hot and sunny you do not need to mow your grass, and then later use sprinklers to water the cut grass. This is dumb and bad on many levels.
@threetonesun something I truly love about Portland is that a large number of people who have lawns let them brown in the summer. Even better, a lot of folks have torn out their grass and planted natives. That was one of the first things we did after buying our house and it’s the best.
@threetonesun our parking strip has transformed from a bland plot of grass and weeds to a lush land of happy plants that don’t need water in the hottest months.

@chad we put wildflowers in that area at our last house. I drove by it the other day and the new owners replaced it with… splotchy brown grass 😭

Very close to my goal of replacing all the grass in our yard with clover at the current place though!

@threetonesun I truly don’t understand the idea of lawns, especially those made up of non-native plants. Such a waste of time and money. Hell yes to clover!
