By withholding a ruling on Trump v. United States, the Supreme Court's far-right justices are effectively giving Trump the immunity he's seeking, making it all but impossible for him to face trial before the election for his efforts to overturn the election and his role in Jan 6.
@rbreich The question is whether they will issue a ruling at all. Will they leave it dangle?
My guess is that it will be part of the Friday rulings IF at all, and IF it is not highly favorable to TFG.

@rbreich That’s what the six republican supreme justices are there for. Whatever republicans need, they’ll deliver.
@rbreich The sad part is that there is nothing we can do about a politically corrupt Court since it is a political institution in the first place.
We really dropped the ball on this when it was possible to create a balanced court.
@rbreich Well, yeah, nobody's coming to the rescue. If he's re-elected, you're fucked. If not, you get to see him in the orange jumpsuit. The stakes are at least clear.
@rbreich Don't worry. If we're in a dark satire like it seems we are, just when it looks like we're about to lose, a satisfying turn of events will thwart them.

That we have six fascist lunatics running 1/3 of the federal government really isn't treated with the appropriate level of urgency. they cannot be allowed to continue. @rbreich
