@rbreich this happens when there is a class of rich people so wealthy that they don't believe that they need government. They could afford to pay for private roads, private police, private schools, and private property far away from pollution and conflict.

We need a more equal society so everyone has a stake in our collective success. We need a maximum wage and higher taxes on speculative investments than on wages earned.

@Urban_Hermit @rbreich But they don’t. They still use the road system everyone pays for, and the workforce the public education system turns out. I mean, part of the contract of citizenship is that you pay to build the basic public amenities everyone can use—but their argument that they’re not using them so shouldn’t have to pay for them doesn’t even have a true precedent.
