WesDym@davefischer It's even cheesier than that. The actual term is essentially a contraction of "Death to spies!" And, Putin brought it back.
The final SH comes from 'shpionam', cognate of German 'spione' (spies).
I've always thought it sounded funny, and wondered if it sounds that way to Russians, too.
